Knock the price down to around $2500, then we'll talk. Put some doors, spotlights, and rear brake lights and make it a lightweight track car.

My guess is he bought it as a salvage (either total loss due to windshield frame damage, or theft recovery) with the intention of building a kit car out of it & sold off all the bits he knew he wouldn't need. Now he's realized how much work a kit car is and is trying to get the rest of his money back. At about $5000-$6000 it wouldn't be a bad thing to either make legal and go nuts in, use the drivetrain in something cool or put a body on.
I'd love to find a Fiero shell and stretch the Fiero body to fit the corvette chassis just to drive people insane at car shows.
